PLAN T™ is a Dallas, Texas based nonprofit organization dedicated to mitigating the adverse impacts of urbanization on our planet (https://plan-t.org/). Wonderchar had the honor of being chosen by PLAN T™ and the city of Dallas to provide biochar to improve the soil for Dallas’ first Tiny Forest at Oak Cliff’s Westmoreland Park.

Press Release by PLAN T™:
“The soil at the site wasn’t ideal…basically a thin layer of topsoil laid over fill material, common in urban parks and vacant lots. We believe that at the core of all healthy life, we need healthy soil. We knew that we needed to apply some special, but all natural, amendments. One of those “amendments” is a nature-based solution: biochar. We knew that this was a situation where biochar in the right mix would shine.
By incorporating 2 cubic yards of Wonderchar biochar into the existing soil, we took one crucial step in transforming tired, compacted soil into a living foundation that will support the deep roots and dense biodiversity of a Miyawaki Tiny Forest. Biochar naturally improves soil structure, holds water, increases microbial life, and locks in carbon for the long haul. It’s a regenerative tool…not just for plants, but for the planet. We were especially glad to have Wonderchar CEO, John Satterfield and his family join us on planting day, not just as a supplier, but as a true partner in helping Dallas grow greener from the ground up.”
